Wild Portraits - Raising money for Cancer Research UK
In April 2011 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Leiomyosarcoma (LMS for short). I was 42 years old at the time. The cancer was found too late to be curable and consequently I have been given a very poor prognosis. Since my diagnosis I've been treated with chemotherapy, so far it has managed to keep the disease at bay.
I've been raising some money for Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK are one of the biggest cancer charities in Europe. They fund research into a wide range of cancers. I've been a keen amateur wildlife photographer since 2005. I came up with the idea of making and selling a book containing my favourites from the wildlife images I've taken over the last few years. I've called this book "Wild Portraits".
"Wild Portraits" is available both as an iPad eBook and in hard copy.
(note: if you are from outside of the UK please use this link here).
It costs £4.99. For each copy sold around £3.80 will go to Cancer Research UK with the remaining paying the fees charged by Blurb, whose software and website I used to create and sell the book.
(or from here from outside the UK).
Please note that hard copies of the book can be purchased directly from Blurb for £29.99 of which approximately £10 goes to charity with the rest going to Blurb.
As of August 2013 approximately £2500 had been donated to Cancer Research UK through this initiative.
Thank you for supporting my efforts to raise money for this excellent cause, through your generosity you will help improve the outcomes for cancer patients.
